Camp Wapanacki, the Girl Scout Council of Vermont’s, premiere resident camp is located in Hardwick, VT and sits on a 22-acre private lake, featuring a beautiful backdrop of mountains, meadows, forests, and streams. Wapanacki was originally a fishing camp, used by notables like President Calvin Coolidge. There are miles of hiking trails, an easy nature loop around the lake, art studio, indoor recreation building with full stage, playing fields, boating area, and sand beach waterfront for swimming.  Scattered around the lake are cabin and platform tent units that house both campers and staff in summer months and are available for group use in the off-season.  Each has close access to a bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets.

In addition to being our summer resident camp, Camp Wapanacki is a four-season site welcoming all age levels of our membership. It serves as our outdoor education center providing girls with many opportunities for scientific investigations. The Ginger Trail, our nature/hiking trail around the lake, crosses through deep woods and wetlands. Longer hiking trails crisscross the 350+ acre property, providing many opportunities for girls to explore. Snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and ice-skating are options in winter months.

Platform tents are available during late summer through early fall. An outpost campsite is also available for those who would like to try “roughing it”. Troops/groups have the option of staying in the troop house in the early spring, late fall and winter months. Unfortunately, no water or indoor bathrooms are available in winter, but we do have a woodstove to provide heat.

Camp Wapanacki is a Girl Scout’s “home away from home” where she attends resident camp, participates in family/troop camping experiences, and can experience the outdoors year-round.
