Girl
Scouting is Unique!
Girl
Scouts is the World's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls
- all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls
build character and skills for success in the real world, in partnership
with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all
their lives - like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about
their own potential and self-worth. In
Girl Scouting, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls
together. Through the many enriching experiences provided by Girl Scouting,
they grow courageous and strong.
Every
Girl Scout program has all five of these core
elements:
-
We
serve all girls and only girls. Committed to diversity, our
girls are from all races, economies, cultures, lifestyles, and religions.
Research shows girls thrive best in all-girl settings.
-
In
Girl Scouting, the girl/adult partnership is key. When girls
have adult mentors who work with them to bring their ideas to life,
they are more likely to stay in school, resist risky behavior, and
raise their expectations for their own futures.
-
In
Girl Scouting, we provide program in a safe environment.
We care about the little details like the number of adults present,
the insurance coverage of the facilities used, and the readiness of
girls for programs.
-
In
Girl Scouting, trained adults work with girls. Volunteering
for Girl Scouting is not as simple as raising your hand. At training
courses our volunteers learn how to manage risks, how to mentor girls,
and how to provide program that is exciting.
-
In
Girl Scouting, program is based on the Girl Scout Promise and
Law. The values they practice now, they'll use when they become
employees, parents, and community volunteers.
